Topic: Navigating Serious Illness, Palliative Care & End of Life Care
When: Monday, February 2, 8 PM CST · 9 PM EST · 6 PM PST
Facilitator: Dr. Jamyl Walker
This discussion introduces the concept of palliative care during serious illness and at end of life. Participants will gain clearer understanding of common terminology used when discussing and navigating serious illness, learn about easily accessible resources to support caring for loved ones with serious illness, and learn how to improve communication with loved ones and your healthcare teams.
About the facilitator:
Jamyl Walker DNP, MSN, AGNP-C, ACHPN is a dual board-certified Nurse Practitioner in Adult–Geriatric Medicine, Palliative Care and Hospice. She is excited to celebrate 20 years in healthcare this year and currently serves on the inpatient palliative care team at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA.
Dr. Walker also teaches serious illness communication and advanced symptom management for people with serious illnesses and those near or at end of life.
Topic: Money Basics: How to Build a Stable Future

About the facilitator:
Lee Mixson spent 30 years in finance, accounting, and financial consulting before retiring in 2014. He has been married to Lucile for 43 years and has two daughters and seven grandchildren. Mixson grew up on a sharecropping farm near Selma, Alabama, raised by a single mother alongside seven siblings. Unable to afford college after high school, he served six years in the U.S. Army. After completing his service, he attended the University of Alabama to study accounting and later moved to Minnesota, where he finished his degree at the University of Minnesota.

About the facilitator:
Representative Cedrick R. Frazier is an attorney and member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 43A, which includes New Hope and Crystal. A native of Chicago’s Englewood community, he earned his B.A. in psychology from the University of Minnesota–Morris, followed by an M.A. in urban studies from Minnesota State University, Mankato. He later completed his J.D. at William Mitchell College of Law and began his legal career as a public defender in Hennepin County. After serving in public education, he was elected to the Minnesota Legislature in 2020.
